METHOD Mwanjali took to social media to pay his condolences as Hwange battles to come to terms with the loss of its gentle giant Big Charlie.
His name was Charles Nyoni.
He died at St Theresa Hospital yesterday, five days after he was admitted.
Big Charlie was a real heavyweight who used to tower above the entire coal mining town of Hwange.
“RIP Big Charlie,” said Mwanjali on his Facebook page.
Big Charlie was 2,1m tall, just 41cms shorter than the tallest man in the world, Sultan Kosen of Turkey.
His shoe size was 21.
They say his normal meal was what was usually taken by three men.
Big Charlie was as popular in Hwange as the battery of gifted footballers, which the coal mining town has produced over the years.
These footballers include Mwanjali, the former Warriors captain, who led them to success in the 2009 COSAFA Cup.
It is also the hometown of current Warriors captain Marvelous Bakamba.
