GOSPEL singer Knowledge Jakarasi has gone solo after he fused his gospel song into a Zimdancehall beat.
The singer was part of an 18-member gospel group, Purple Pride Family, before he decided to start his project.
Throughout his career, Jakarasi has collaborated with renowned producers like Chillspot’s DJ Fantan and Levels and Bodyslam Records’ PTK 2013. He has also worked with prominent dancehall artists like Jimmy Wailer, Killer T and Ikid Sanz.
His big break came with the choir’s debut project, ‘Jesu Ndiye Hama’, which was produced by Macdee Chidavaenzi, under the guidance of choir founder Albertt Mtengwa.
“As one of its founding members, he embraced a new direction by incorporating live band elements and a distinctive vocal style into his music,” said his manager Mtengwa.
“We want him to expand his talent and he is still part of the group.
“Talent should be enhanced and he still keeps the dancehall beat.
“I identified that he has talent when he released his debut song ‘Jesu Ndiye Hama’.”
In 2022, Jakarasi launched his solo career.
“This year, we decided to take a bold step by creating an extraordinary EP that pushes the boundaries of the gospel genre.
“The first single, ‘Vakachena’, will be released this week and this track uniquely fuses two genres, produced by Tadex Maxe, and features visually stunning concepts by Hastings Chiromo.”
