UPCOMING gospel artiste Godfrey Tsuro says gospel artistes are sometimes caught up in controversy because the devil is against the work of God.
He said gospel music was a ministry akin to preaching and hence the devil was against it and as such gospel artistes needed prayers not persecution from fans and the general public.
In an Interview with Sunday Life from his base in Harare Tsuro who has managed three albums to date said the bible teaches us that the devil is at work all the time.
“It’s true that gospel artistes are at times caught up in controversial issues but this has been happening even in the biblical times when King David took his soldier’s wife and after that he wrote the longest book in the bible (Psalms),” said Tsuro.
Tsuro who is the leader of promising gospel outfit The Heaven Ambassadors weighed in by saying no one is perfect.
“All I can say is that no one is perfect and the bible even says, “If you say you are not sinners then the truth is not in you.’’ However, he cautioned artistes not to justify their scandalous engagements by King David‘s actions.
“Gospel artistes should remember that they are the light and the salt of the world. Their actions have a bearing to their followers’ faith and hence they should always lead a responsible life style,” he added.
Driven with the passion for music Tsuro said he was praying to meet professional music promoters to drive his trade.
“I am moved by the passion for music and I pray that God provide us with a serious promoter.’’
Tsuro who said is not yet a household name despite his three offerings Anesu, Nguva and Kupakwashe said government should protect artistes from piracy.
“During state events the Ministry of Information must include upcoming artists to perform, the ministry of Industry and Commerce should avail loans to emerging artists and in this way we may have the ability to sustain our bands,” said Tsuro.
