GOSPEL and upcoming artists are set to get a crash course on the business side of the music industry when they converge at the ZimParks Headquarters in Harare on October 2 for a free music and ministry seminar.

The discussion is part of this year’s Market Place for the Master, hosted by the Seventh Day Adventist Church.
Hosted by gospel musician Everton Mlalazi, the event will focus on equipping artistes with practical knowledge to build sustainable careers while maintaining their ministry.
Running under the theme “The Business Side of Gospel Music,” the seminar will tackle issues including royalties, music rights, branding, streaming, digital income, contracts and bookings.
Mlalazi will be the keynote speaker, while a panel discussion will feature National Arts Council of Zimbabwe chief executive officer Napoleon Nyathi, ZIMRA board chairman Alexio Gwenzi, Gospel artiste Michael Mahendere, Earground founder Plot Mhako and Power FM station manager Leander “Leekay” Kandiero.
The discussion will be moderated by Yvonne Tivatye.
The organisers said the seminar was aimed particularly at helping upcoming artistes understand the industry beyond music production and performance.
The event will also be live-streamed, allowing artistes who cannot attend physically to participate remotely.
The seminar will run from 9.30am to 1pm, with admission free.
