Gospel musician finds winning formula

Gospel musician Innocent Shumbahuru is happy with response to his fourth album “Mufudzi Akanaka” and has started performing at live shows. The album has seven tracks namely “Kutenda”, “Farai Zvenyu”, “Mufudzi Akanaka”, “Gadziriro”, “Mazita”, “Famba NaJesu”, and “Mwari Havatinyadzise”. Over the weekend he performed in Chitungwiza at a church service.

“I have released two other albums that failed to make an impact on the local market making it difficult to establish a full band. ‘‘This new project has managed to bring glory to my career and I have already started live performances,” he said. Shumbahuru’s first album “Maropafadzo” was recorded in 2006 but failed to make an impact on the local market.

He was not deterred by his first album’s failure to make impact on the local scene. The musician recorded two other albums “Kudzaishe” and “Garai Munashe” before working on the latest release. “By then this type of gospel was not yet popular but I am glad God has managed to give us the light,” he said.

He said the response of the new album was overwhelming, a development that shows his improvement. “Now I can manage the band because we are now hired to perform at events,” he said. He said he decided to engage two producers Lyton Ngolomi and Charles Ayibeki to give his fans the best.

“These two are good producers and to give our fans the best I decided to engage both of them. “It has also brought new a dimension to the music,” he said. Another gospel musician Bethan Pasinawako was the backing vocalist on the album.
