GOSPEL SENSATION’S DIFFERENT PATHWAY TO SUCCESS

WHILE many upcoming musicians seek collaborations with top artists to boost their profiles, rising gospel sensation Tatenda Maware firmly believes true success in her line of duty comes from personal perseverance and God’s blessings.

Zimbabwe’s music scene has seen numerous upcoming artists seeking collaborations with established artists as a gateway to a breakthrough, with some paying considerable fees to work with renowned artists.

However, the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe-groomed artist, known as Famba Mupositori, disagrees with this strategy.

“I am not sure with other genres but, in our genre, great gospel artists in Zimbabwe weren’t made through collaborations.

“We have seen greats, coming and making it to the top, without these collaborations.

“I cannot, therefore, bank on collaboration as my strategy to make it to the top because there is no evidence that it works.

“Show me a great gospel musician in Zimbabwe who became great through collaborations.”

The musician said gospel music greats – Pastor Charamba, Minister Mahendere, Mechanic Manyeruke, Dorcas Moyo, Fungisai and Blessing Shumba – achieved success independently.

“I will not collaborate with established artists to raise my profile. I believe God will elevate me in His time.

“I will work with other musicians, complementing each other, but I would not seek collaborations for personal gain.

“Develop your talent to the point where you are unstoppable. Be too good to ignore.

“As seen in Zimbabwean dancehall, where the song’s popularity paved the way for artists to thrive, invest in your growth to attract meaningful recognition.

“Take every chance to perform, learn from criticism, and trust in God’s plan. Rather seek guidance to elevate your profile.”

Famba Mupositori unveiled an album, recorded at T&C Records, in 2017.

His song “Mapositori Rugare Ngariwande” became a hit, earning him the nickname “Mupositori.”

A pivotal moment came when AFM in Zimbabwe leader, Reverend Madawo, invited him to perform at the church’s annual conference.
