GOSPEL Unplugged set a rocking precedent last weekend after launching their debut album — Sounds of Africa — at the Bulawayo Theatre, as part of the just ended Intwasa Arts Festival koBulawayo.
The launch was attended by fellow musicians Carlos Jiri, Amanda Grace, as well as Worship Experience who came all the way from Chinhoyi for the launch. The event was well attended, with many gospel music fans in attendance.
“We are very pleased with the outcome as we did not expect so many people, since this was our first album launch we are so much excited of the support that was given to us it shows that our music is being appreciated,” said Sam Chokuda the leader and founder of the group.
The group was out to impress with their melodious voices and use of traditional instruments.
“Due to the time limit of the event, our concert was cut short, so we had to appeal to our lovely audience and do the performance outside the theatre. We are so much happy that our music has so much impact on people’s lives. We are planning to do an outdoor event, as we are trying to bring Gospel Unplugged to the people. It’s high time we as a group take the gospel music to the people”, Chokuda said.
Those who attended the event were given a free CD as a token of appreciation.
