Government approves Harare budget

GOVERNMENT has approved the City of Harare’s US$578 million 2024 budget.
In a letter confirming the budget approval, Local Government and Public Works Minister Daniel Garwe told the local authority to submit a work plan and monthly reports as part of the approval conditions.

“The Minister of Local Government and Public Works has in terms of Section 47 (1) of the Public Finance Management Act Chapter 22:19 approved the 2024 budget estimates for City of Harare with the following conditions:

“1. Council to submit a work plan with detailed timelines to address the issues raised on your budget rejection letter by the 15th of July 2024.

“2. Council to submit monthly reports updating the Ministry on progress attained towards addressing outstanding issues notwithstanding them being matters before the Commission of Inquiry,” reads part of the letter.
