GOVERNMENT remains committed to delivering quality road infrastructure to connect communities, improve mobility, and drive socio-economic development, following the unveiling of a dedicated Infrastructure Fund for the rehabilitation of roads and bridges across Zimbabwe.
The Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Advocate Felix Mhona, announced the development in Parliament, where he outlined a comprehensive strategy to repair damage caused by heavy rains and address the nation’s broader infrastructure challenges.
The new Infrastructure Fund was established following extensive consultations between the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructural Development and the Ministry of Finance, Economic Development, and Investment Promotion.
The fund aims to mobilise financial resources specifically for the rehabilitation of roads and the reconstruction of damaged bridges, marking a critical step in reducing the country’s infrastructure deficit.
Minister Mhona confirmed that the upcoming nationwide rehabilitation efforts will be executed under the official banner of the ‘Road Rehabilitation Programme 2’.
