Government committed to preserving liberation heritage: VP Mohadi

The GOVERNMENT has expressed its committment to support initiatives that preserve Zimbabwe’s liberation heritage, strengthen research, promote cultural diplomacy and celebrate African civilisation as part of efforts to build an informed citizenry capable of driving national development.
Vice President  Kembo Mohadi expressed  Government’s committment while officiating at the Institute of African Knowledge (INSTAK)’s 10th anniversary celebrations held at the Museum of African Liberation in Harare.
He said the country’s development aspirations under the Second Republic requires citizens who understand their history and identity.
The celebration was held under the theme ‘Celebrating a Decade of Advancing African Knowledge, Heritage and Liberation’.
“The Second Republic’s Vision 2030 is associated with economic modernisation and industrial transformation.
“Such developments must be underpinned by a citizenry that understands who they are, where they have come from and where they are going.
“For this reason, Government has consistently supported initiatives that preserve our liberation heritage, strengthen research, promote cultural diplomacy and celebrate African civilisation.”
Vice President  Mohadi commended the growing partnership between Government and Instak, saying it had become a model of successful collaboration in advancing national development beyond traditional infrastructure projects.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, the Government of Zimbabwe takes particular pride in the partnership that has evolved between the State and the Institute of African Knowledge.
“It demonstrates that successful public-private partnerships extend well beyond roads, bridges and energy infrastructures.
“The collaboration stands as an excellent example of what can be achieved when Government, private institutions, academia and development partners work together in pursuit of a common national vision”.
Vice President  Mohadi said the Government’s partnership with Instak is yielding results that extend far beyond Zimbabwe’s borders, positioning the country as a centre for African scholarship, heritage preservation and Pan-African cooperation.
“For this, the Government expresses its appreciation and its continued support,” he said.
The Vice President said institutions such as Instak were critical in safeguarding the country’s liberation history and ensuring that future generations remained grounded in the values that shaped Zimbabwe’s independence.
“Ladies and Gentlemen, one of the enduring lessons of our liberation struggle is that freedom must be defended by strong institutions that preserve memory, nurture leadership, and sustain national values across generations.
“As we celebrate Instak’s first decade, we are reminded that such institutions play an indispensable role in ensuring that the sacrifices of the liberation struggle continue to inspire Africa’s future”.
The celebrations were attended by envoys from other African nations, senior Government officials and other stakeholders.
