The Ministry of primary and secondary education has advised stakeholders that the Government deferred the re-opening of Schools until further notice due to the prevailing situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The government has also availed funds for the procurement of personal protective equipment (PPEs) as preparations for the re-opening of schools continue. All public schools that include government, local and non profit missions schools will benefit from the PPEs.
The ministry said the schools will remain closed until further notice and any school that defies the order (to remain closed) during this lockdown period will be violating the law and will be answerable. Health and safety of pupils and teachers will be given priority. Alternative teaching and learning models will be availed to ensure that education continues to be provided inclusively during this covid – 19 period.
Meanwhile, the ministry of primary and second education in conjunction with ZBC, Unicef and UNDP will be rolling out the fourth phase of radio lessons as part of alternative learning platform. The lessons for the second schedule will be aired from 27 July to 7 August, 2020 and thereafter another schedule will be released.
