Government has increased the Constituency Development Fund allocations from US$20 000 to US$50 000 to enable parliamentarians to carry out development projects in their constituencies.
The increase was announced by Speaker of the National Assembly Advocate Jacob Mudenda in the House.
“Following the presentation of the Mid Term Budget and Economic Review Statement on July 25, 2024, Treasury has availed US$50 000 per constituency.
“Honourable members may start submitting their projects for consideration before November 30, 2024,” he said.
“All returning Members of Parliament who have not submitted their returns are encouraged to first acquit before accessing new funding.
“Furthermore, honourable members are required to start implementing CDF projects as soon as funds are deposited into their accounts so that projects do not take long to complete.”
The CDF was introduced by the Government to enable MPs to fund projects identified by their constituents as part of the implementating devolution.
