GOVERNMENT’S efforts to start rehabilitating and turning country clubs across the country into centres of excellence in relation to agricultural transformation got a boost from some private players.

The call to upgrade country clubs was emphasised by the late Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Minister, Air Marshal Perrance Shiri (Rtd) before his demise.

Speaking today during the handover of a fully-refurbished Banket Country Club to the ministry by fertiliser and seed making company FSG, Lands, Agriculture, Fisheries, Water and Rural Development Deputy Minister Vangelis Haritatos rallied other private players to emulate FSG’s gesture and help revamp clubs.

“The clubs will act as centres of excellence where farmers will get knowledge, interact and share ideas.

SFG has also successfully renovated Bindura Country Club.

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Mashonaland West lauded the efforts by the private player which she said complement President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030.

FSG logistics manager, Mr Ngoni Kandeya said they will resuscitate Harare South Country Club before year end.

The company is the biggest partner of Presidential Pfumvudza and Command Agriculture Input Schemes.

It has also availed motorbikes to the Agritex and Veterinary Services departments.
