The commissioning of the Manjoro Computer Laboratory in Nyanga District, Manicaland Province, has showcased the power of partnerships between Government, the private sector, and the local community in improving access to digital technology.
Built by Ecobank Zimbabwe, the state-of-the-art computer laboratory houses 40 computers and is expected to be a life-changing facility for learners in the rural and remote area of Nyanga.

As part of the project, the Ministry of Information Communication Technology, Postal and Courier Services donated five Starlink kits, benefiting the school and nearby institutions, including the local police station.
Speaking during the commissioning ceremony, ICT Deputy Minister Dingumuzi Phuti applauded the collaboration, saying it aligns with President Mnangagwa’s vision of inclusive national development.
“I want to extend heartfelt appreciation to Ecobank Zimbabwe, whose corporate social responsibility initiative has brought us here today. By building this laboratory, Ecobank has invested in the future of the children of Manjoro, the future of Nyanga, and the future of Zimbabwe,” said Deputy Minister Phuti.

He added that the partnership was a shining example of what can be achieved when different sectors work together.
“As His Excellency, President Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa often reminds us, ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’ — a nation is built by its own people. It is through such partnerships that we will achieve the President’s vision of leaving no one and no place behind,” he said.
Deputy Minister Phuti said his ministry was committed to ensuring every school in Zimbabwe has access to modern computer laboratories and digital learning tools.
“Our goal is simple but ambitious — to ensure that every school, from Manjoro to Mbare, from Chiredzi to Chirundu, has access to digital education. In today’s world, digital access is not a privilege — it is a right,” he said.
He also highlighted ongoing programmes such as the Digital Skills Ambassadors Programme, which equips young Zimbabweans with e-learning, e-agriculture, e-commerce, and e-governance skills.

The Deputy Minister commended Nyanga South legislator and former ICT Minister Cde Supa Mandiwanzira for spearheading the initiative.
“Honourable Mandiwanzira’s efforts as the local Member of Parliament made this project possible. As a former ICT Minister, he laid the foundations upon which our Ministry continues to build,” said Deputy Minister Phuti.
Cde Mandiwanzira said the commissioning of the computer laboratory was a proud moment for his former school.
“This is a proud moment for my former school. I mobilised the community, donors, and Ecobank — which doesn’t even have a branch in Nyanga — to make this a reality. I learnt at this school from Grade 1, and it’s good to see such meaningful development,” he said.
