The Government has moved to honour the three Highlanders Football Club executive members who died in a tragic road traffic accident, with the Sport Ministry confirming that it has requested State-assisted funerals for chairman Retired Colonel Kenneth Mhlophe, vice-chairman Sifiso Siziba and treasurer Nkani Khoza.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, Mr Nicholas Moyo, confirmed the development on Friday after visiting Highlanders Football Club offices in Bulawayo to console the Bosso family.
Mr Moyo, who was accompanied by Sports and Recreation Commission board member David Simba, said the Ministry had already engaged the relevant authorities to facilitate State assistance in recognition of the trio’s immense contribution to Zimbabwean sport.
He said the Government was deeply saddened by the deaths of the three administrators, whose dedication and leadership had left an indelible mark on Highlanders Football Club and Zimbabwean football.
The delegation conveyed Government’s condolences to the bereaved families, the Highlanders leadership, members and supporters, assuring them of its support during the difficult period.
