Government has appointed the National Aids Council’s finance and administration manager, Mr Albert Manenji as the new acting chief executive officer.
Mr Manenji replaces operations director, Mr Raymond Yekeye, who has been holding the same position for over six months, following the departure of the organisation’s long serving CEO, Dr Tapiwa Magure.
“The Ministry of Health and Child Care has appointed NAC finance and admin director Mr Albert Manenji as NAC acting CEO with immediate effect pending appointment of substantive CEO. Mr Raymond Yekeye, NAC operations director who has been the acting CEO, reverts back to his position,” posted NAC on its website.
Although NAC is yet to appoint a substantive CEO, the previous board that was dissolved before completing its term had begun the process of recruiting a new CEO.
The move was interrupted by its dissolution.
Government is yet to appoint a new board for NAC.
Health and Child Care Minister Dr Obadiah Moyo recently told journalists that the names of potential board members have since been submitted for vetting.
“There is a process which has to be followed in the appointment of a NAC board and it has to be in line with the laws governing appointment of board members,” said Dr Moyo.
“Once we get submissions from the various bodies which we are supposed to identify members from, we then select and submit for vetting.”
