GOVERNMENT has released US$5 million for the construction of Kunzvi and Gwayi Shangani dams to expedite the completion of the two projects this year.

The construction of these two major dams and others will help to alleviate water challenges across the country.

The roll out of dam construction projects countrywide will boost agricultural production, provide potable water, install mini-hydro power projects and harness existing water bodies as the Second Republic led by President Mnangagwa seeks to revolutionise agriculture.

Gwayi Shangani dam, which now nears the finalisation point, will hold 691 million cubic litres of water to facilitate irrigation projects in the surrounding areas when it is complete.
