PETROZIM Line, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the National Oil Infrastructure Company of Zimbabwe, has underscored commitment to high quality and integrity after achieving certification to the International Standards Organisation 9001:2015 quality management system standard.
PZL owns and operates the fuel pipeline stretching from Feruka to Harare and holds the exclusive right to transport all imported petroleum products into Zimbabwe via this pipeline.
Speaking at the certification ceremony in Harare yesterday, PZL board chairperson Engineer Mercy Manyuchi said the move reflects the company’s transformation and commitment to building the country’s future on the principles of quality and integrity.
“Petrozim Line is not an isolated entity; we are part of a national framework that seeks to modernise and strengthen Zimbabwe’s energy infrastructure,” he said.
“Our achievement aligns directly with the goals of the National Development Strategy 1 and 2 (NDS1 and NDS2) and paves the way towards the aspirations of NDS2, which emphasises industrialisation, efficiency, and international competitiveness.”
Eng Manyuchi said the journey to certification began in 2015 when PZL first attained the Occupational Health and Safety standard ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015, an environmental management system standard.
“Through the use of these ISO standards, there has been continual improvement of the company’s processes, policies, procedures and systems, enhancing our capacity to meet expected service delivery,” she noted.
To keep pace with international developments in quality management systems, the PZL team initiated preparations for attaining ISO 9001:2015 to develop a robust business management systems framework.
“This new quality management system will provide PZL with benefits such as a risk-based approach to business at all levels, systematic knowledge management to ensure critical knowledge preservation and business sustainability, and consideration of the business context in our operations,” said Eng Manyuchi.
Standards Association of Zimbabwe (SAZ), director general Mr Cosmas Mukoyi, represented by director of certification services, Mr Ranganai Mutonono, commended PZL for its commitment to delivering quality services.
“With a vision to enhance the flow of petroleum products across our region, your trust demonstrates a commitment to quality and reliability,” said Mr Mukoyi.
“Your extensive network and strategic operations have made a significant impact on the industry, ensuring that vital resources reach their destination safely and efficiently.”
Mr Mukoyi explained that achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification signifies that PZL has implemented a rigorous quality management system that surpasses customised specifications.
The certification is recognised globally and positions PZL as a leader in quality management within the industry, implying the company is now listed on the international database of ISO 9001:2015 certified organisations by SAZ.
