GOVERNMENT has reiterated its commitment to strengthening support for marginalised learners as part of efforts to achieve President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030, the Deputy Minister of Finance, Economic Development and Investment Promotion, David Mnangagwa, has said.
In a speech read on his behalf by Kwekwe District Schools Inspector (DSI) Mr Hebert Maziriri at the Donjane Secondary School speech and prize giving day in Zhombe, Deputy Minister Mnangagwa said education remained a cornerstone of national development and a key pathway to empowering disadvantaged communities.
“Education remains one of the strongest pillars for national development, as outlined in our National Vision 2030,” he said. “The Government of Zimbabwe, under the visionary leadership of President Mnangagwa, continues to prioritise quality, inclusive and heritage-based education that prepares our learners for innovation, industrialisation and economic transformation.”
He said the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education was expanding support for vulnerable students through the Basic Education Assistance Module (BEAM), ensuring that financial challenges do not deprive learners of their right to education.
“As the Ministry of Finance, we are fully committed to supporting education as a key investment in our nation’s human capital,” he said.
“BEAM has been instrumental in covering tuition fees and examination costs for thousands of learners nationwide, including those here at Donjane Secondary School. This support is a clear demonstration of Government’s dedication to equitable access to education for all Zimbabwean children.”
Deputy Minister Mnangagwa applauded Donjane Secondary School for aligning its programmes with the Education 5.0 model and said the school’s piggery project, computer lab initiative and other innovation-driven activities were examples of community-rooted development.
He also commended teachers, parents, traditional leaders and community members for rallying behind the school’s growth.
“Your unity of purpose is a shining example of the Public–Private–Community partnership that drives our national development agenda,” Deputy Minister Mnangagwa said.
The deputy minister also encouraged prize winners to continue working hard while urging those who did not receive awards to remain focused.
“Every effort counts. Learn from others, work harder, and your time to shine will surely come,” he said.
Donjane Secondary School headmaster, Mr Oswald Masakadza, said the school was honoured to host the Deputy Minister and his visit reaffirmed Government’s commitment to inclusive national development.
“We appreciate the Deputy Minister for being the guest of honour at our speech and prize-giving day,” he said. “It shows that the Government is committed to its mantra of leaving no place and no one behind. As our school continues to grow, we promise to use education to fulfil the thrust set out in Vision 2030.”
The event saw outstanding students being honoured for excellence in academics, leadership and co-curricular activities with community members pledging continued support towards the school’s development.
