A GRADE 1 pupil died after being run over by a vehicle on her way from school in Middle Sabi last week.
Police confirmed the accident and said Brenda Ndhlovu (6) died on the spot after being run over by a Toyota Corolla belonging to Trueman Muhlanganiso.
“Trueman was driving his vehicle towards Tongogara Refugee Camp when he came across the four schoolchildren coming from school.
“When Trueman saw the children, he tried not to hit them by applying brakes. The vehicle swerved to the right hitting Brenda Ndhlovu who died on the spot.

“He then hit Esther Ndhlovu who sustained serious injuries on the right leg. Zimudza Dube was also hit and he sustained serious head injuries.” said Chipinge District police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Blessing Kadzuraumera.

A report was made at Middle Sabi Police Station and police at once attended the scene. The injured were rushed to Chipinge District Hospital where their condition was reported to be serious.

“We urge all motorists to exercise caution while driving to avoid the unnecessary loss of lives,” he said.
