Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) has postponed tomorrow’s graduation ceremony to 23 October after the venue was damaged by a rampaging hailstorm on Tuesday night.
President Mnangagwa was scheduled to preside over the institution’s 20th graduation ceremony at a venue close to the Masvingo-Mutare highway.
However, following the hailstorm that damaged buildings and powerlines, the university has since announced the postponement, saying it was in the interests of graduands and their families.
“The decision follows the severe devastation caused by the sudden storm that affected Masvingo last night, resulting in significant damage to the city and in particular the graduation venue and surrounding infrastructure,” reads the statement.
