Great Zimbabwe University (GZU) is celebrating remarkable achievements as it prepares for its 20th Graduation Ceremony on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 9am at the Main Campus.
Thousands of graduates will proudly walk away with their “caps of knowledge” after years of dedication, marking another proud chapter in the University’s journey.
The immediate milestone is GZU’s resounding success at the Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe International Tourism Expo 2026, where the University was named Best Overall Exhibition Stand and also clinched the award for Best Exhibition Stand in the Training Institutions category.
These accolades placed GZU at the pinnacle of the exhibition competition, showcasing its academic programmes, research and innovation projects, heritage work and transformative Education 5.0 initiatives.
The University’s team further distinguished itself at the Sanganai/Hlanganani Dzimbahwe Scholastics Tourism Conference 2026, finishing as First Runner‑Up in the national
final.
Representing Masvingo province, the team earned US$800 in prize money and a US$2 000 support grant to advance its innovation.
Beyond the Expo, GZU continues to celebrate as two academics — Professor Mandivamba Rukuni (Chairperson of Council) and Professor Cowen Dziva of the Nehanda School of Gender — were appointed National Constitutional Commissioners, strengthening the University’s national influence and leadership role.
These milestones underscore GZU’s unwavering commitment to academic excellence, innovation, and community impact.
