HARARE-BASED Pacific Storm Eastern Region Division One outfit, Yadah FC may have personalised the top spot, but their remaining 13 fixtures are not kind to their Premiership promotion aspirations.
This year’s title race has been one of the most intriguing competitions to follow, with Yadah, Tenax, GreenFuel and La Murambinda locked in a battle for promotion.
It is the log leaders, who face a tricky end to the 2026 fixtures, especially considering they will travel to Chisumbanje for a date against fellow title aspirants, GreenFuel on the last day of the season.
Among their remaining fixtures, Yadah will also have to deal with away trips to Grand Legacy and another title aspirant, Africa Mineral Ventures at Vengere Stadium in Rusape.
Yadah currently sits at the summit with 52 points from 23 matches, but the chasing pack is refusing to let the leaders breathe.
Former PSL campaigners, Tenax are second on 48 points, while another ex-top-flight side, GreenFuel, are third on 47 points.
New boys, La Murambinda, whose ownership exchanged hands recently, have emerged as perhaps the surprise package of the campaign, and are firmly in the promotion conversation, also sitting on 47 points, but occupying fourth place because of an inferior goal difference.
GreenFuel chairman, Fred Moyo, refused to read too much into the fixtures, opting to take each match as it comes with the aim of collecting maximum points.
“We are just playing our matches one at a time and not focusing on what other teams are doing. We believe the teams in the league have the same capacity to play competitively, hence there is really no need to view certain matches as tougher than others. All we want is to enjoy the game of football and play to collect as many points as we can. It is every team’s wish to be promoted into the Premiership, ourselves included, but we embrace all results in the true spirit of sportsmanship,” said Moyo.
Pacific Eastern Region chairman, Wisdom Simba, expressed satisfaction at the progress of the 2026 season.
“I think we are on the right track as a league. All the matches that we have been witnessing recently have been competitive, and we hope the best team of the season will be the eventual winner of this 2026 Pacific Storm Eastern Region League season,” he said.
He explained that all teams that have a fixture against the now defunct Tongogara FC will be on a bye, and those that played and won against the refugees’ outfit had their points deducted.
Those that were defeated by the refugees’ team had their goals scored deducted.
This week, Grand Legacy is on bye.
Teams that have already gone on a bye are Yadah, Bikita Minerals, Buffaloes, Destiny Stars, FC Wangu Mazodze and Power FC.
