ALICK MACHESO abruptly ended his musical show on Sunday evening after receiving news of fellow musician, Tatenda Pinjisi’s death.

Macheso was the headline act at the family show at Jongwe Corner in the capital that also included Selmor Mtukudzi.

As Macheso was performing, reports of Pinjisi’s death spread and one of the people who got the message rushed to the stage to break the news.

Known for his energetic acts, Macheso dropped his face, looked confused and told the crowd he was at a loss of words.

“Ndapererwa, asimwarika, Tatenda Pinjisi had an accident going to Kadoma, where his drummer and rhythmist passed on the spot. I am now hearing that Tatenda has followed his bandmates and the passenger,” said Macheso.

Visibly emotional, Macheso then performed Pinjisi’s popular track, Saina,

He then sat down next to the drummer and eventually left the Orchestra Mberikwazvo band members to finish the song they were performing.

“Because if this is true, we just say God is the one who knows why,” he said.

Macheso later issued a statement consoling the Pinjisi family and also extending the condolence message to the other three who died on Friday.

“(IMPFA NIMULANDI)
