FANUEL Tonganayi, widely known for his role as Firimoni in the popular Gringo comedy series, has died.

Firimoni died Wednesday morning at his rural home in Hurungwe, Mashonaland West.

Taurai “Gringo Junior” Boora, whose late father Lazarus “Gringo” Boora worked alongside Firimoni, confirmed the news of Firimoni’s death.

“I received the news from his nephew in Hurungwe. He had been very ill for two days before he died. He had retreated to his rural home, and we struggled to get in touch with him since he did not have a phone,” shared Gringo Junior.

“As someone who worked with my father, I will always remember Firimoni for his contributions to the industry. He was a talented individual who truly enjoyed his roles, and we will surely miss him. I wanted to collaborate with him before he passed, but it was often difficult to reach him. He was a kind person.”

Despite portraying a clumsy character in the series, Firimoni was beloved by many.

He began his career as a driver for the cast before seamlessly transitioning to the role of Firimoni, which he executed with great skill.

His passing is a huge loss to the film and television industry, highlighting the struggles many talented individuals face, as some have unfortunately died in poverty despite achieving fame at their peak.
