A 56-YEAR-OLD groom had both legs crashed by a kombi and a Honda Fit at the intersection of Rotten Row and Belvedere Road about 30 minutes after tying the knot with his wife at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts yester- day.
It was double tragedy for Edison Murirana, who after being hit by the commuter omnibus near First Funeral Assurance Company, was also run over by the Honda Fit.

He was rushed to Parirenyatwa Hospital for treatment.

Murirana and his wife, Sheillah Nyamasoka (34), solemnised their union at the Harare Magistrates’ Courts around 9am yesterday before the tragedy.
After the wedding the couple, in the company of their two witnesses, left the court premises towards Rotten Row.

The commuter omnibus, which was being driven by Felix Mashindu (29), was coming from the holding bay in Coventry Road and was heading towards town and had no passengers on board.

Mashindu, who was scared of being assaulted by a mob that gathered at the scene, said his attention was distracted by another vehicle that encroached into his lane.

National Traffic spokesperson Inspector Tigere Chigome said they were yet to receive the report.
