BULAWAYO’S nightlife is receiving a remix, courtesy of Groove Lounge ZW — a platform redefining how music is experienced and shared. Inspired by global movements such as Major League DJz’s Balcony Mix, Groove Lounge blends intimate live DJ sets with curated YouTube episodes, spotlighting Zimbabwean talent on the international stage.
Much like its inspiration, Groove Lounge has evolved beyond digital content, transforming into live events that bring golden-hour vibes to Bulawayo’s premier nightspots.
Arnold Ndlovu, the creative force behind the platform, shared the story of its origins.
“The journey began when my wife and I invested in professional equipment and decided to convert our dining room into a studio. That’s where we filmed our very first episode.”

From there, the Groove Lounge ZW concept was born and has grown steadily, publishing over 20 videos that have collectively attracted more than 22 000 views and 1 200 subscribers on YouTube. With no creative boundaries, Groove Lounge celebrates artistry from Bulawayo and beyond, offering both established and emerging talent a chance to shine.
Ndlovu explained that the goal is to use digital platforms to elevate Zimbabwean talent onto the global stage. Producing a Groove Lounge episode, Ndlovu said, is a meticulous process that begins with concept planning.
“We start by deciding on the theme or vibe for the episode and shortlisting potential DJs or artistes, who align with that creative direction. We seek talent that delivers musically while embodying the vibrant spirit of Bulawayo and the wider Southern African region. Sometimes, we feature emerging artistes to give them a platform; other times, we bring in established names to attract broader attention.”
Once the artiste is confirmed, the team sets up the studio for recording, managing everything from sound checks to lighting, to ensure the atmosphere reflects the Groove Lounge brand.
After filming, the team moves into post-production, where visuals are edited, audio refined, and the episode polished before being shared across platforms.
“Our approach is intentional: every episode is designed to showcase artistry at its best, whether it’s a household name or an exciting new discovery.”
So far, Groove Lounge has featured both well-known and rising stars, including Andrean Snow, DJ Sfiso, Nizhe DeSoul, Spencer M, Cue Macafinol, and DJ Sands.
Balancing big names with fresh talent has been key to Groove Lounge’s success.
“Established talent draws the audience in, and upcoming talent keeps the energy fresh and evolving. It’s about creating a space where credibility meets discovery.”
The response has been overwhelmingly positive.
“DJs appreciate the exposure, with some landing regular bookings after featuring on the platform. Our audience loves discovering fresh talent alongside familiar names,” Ndlovu said.
Earlier this month, Groove Lounge hosted a live recording in the city centre, giving attendees a behind-the-scenes look at live music production.
However, the journey has not been without its hurdles.
“The biggest challenge is that everything is self-funded, which makes scaling and sustaining each edition demanding.”
Despite these challenges, Ndlovu’s passion for creating platforms that amplify talent keeps him going.
“I’ve never been a DJ or producer. I’m a creative who’s passionate about building spaces like Groove Lounge to showcase talent and connect with audiences.”
He said Groove Lounge is more than a platform, it is a movement.
“We’re not just documenting; we’re creating a culture of online streaming that gives artistes visibility beyond live events. Groove Lounge isn’t our only project; we’re also working on other exciting content for our channel.”
