FORMER Castle Lager Premier Soccer League champions Chicken Inn have turned to familiar faces as they beef up their technical bench, appointing ex-players Guide Goddard, Ben Nyaunzvi and Danny Phiri to steer the club’s development side.

The Gamecocks confirmed that Goddard, who was part of the senior technical setup last season, has been handed the role of head coach for the developmental team. He will be assisted by fellow former player Ben Nyaunzvi as first assistant, while Danny Phiri, popularly known as Deco, comes in as second assistant and mentor.

The appointments come hot on the heels of a major technical shake up at the Luveve based outfit, which recently parted ways with veteran coach Joey Antipas and goalkeepers trainer Energy Murambadoro, among others.

Chicken Inn media officer Brighton Ncube said the club was confident the new trio would inject fresh energy and direction into the club’s long-term project.

“We have so far introduced our chefs who will be driving the senior team and the development side. We are happy and excited about these appointments. All of them bring a lot of experience, exposure and knowledge to the squad,” said Ncube.

He said the club was laying foundations not just for the immediate future but for sustained success.
The Gamecocks, who have built a reputation for discipline and structured football, appear keen to blend youthful hunger with institutional memory by bringing back former players who understand the club culture.

For Goddard, Nyaunzvi and Phiri, the appointments mark a return home and an opportunity to shape the next generation of Chicken Inn talent.

Club officials say the 2026 season will be a defining one, with fans promised exciting football and a refreshed technical approach.

“The 2026 season is a season like no other. We are making football attractive and exciting and Chicken Inn FC is one of the teams to watch,” said Ncube.

He also hinted that the technical reshuffle is far from complete, with more appointments expected in the coming days.

“We will be announcing other technical team members as the week goes on,” he said.
