Zanu PF national assembly candidate for Harare East Mavis Gumbo is rolling out women empowerment projects in the constituency to enable them to be self-reliant and contribute towards the well-being of their families.
Cde Gumbo yesterday introduced sewing and baking projects in Tafara, an event which saw more than 100 women being trained. The elderly also received groceries and blankets .
The participants said they were happy with the empowerment projects which were being done by Cde Gumbo and urged everyone to vote for Zanu PF in the upcoming elections and ensure a resounding victory for President Mnangagwa.
Mrs Jennifer Chiremba from Tafara said everyone must vote for Zanu PF .
“We are urging everyone to vote for President Mnangagwa in the upcoming elections,” she said.
” Cde Gumbo is working so hard to empower women in this constituency and she is also taking care of old and the vulnerable.”
Cde Gumbo said the programme was aimed at empowering women so that they can be self-reliant.
“We teaching them how to bake bread, buns and scones while others are being taught sewing. We want women to generate their own income and be empowered. We have also donated groceries and blankets to senior citizens who are those people above the age of 60.
“This programme is not only going to be done in Tafara and Mabvuku but across the Harare East constituency. As their Member of Parliament, I will look for land for them to be able to undertake these projects so that they can be empowered as women.”
She said the projects will help in reducing domestic violence as women will be bringing something to the table not just waiting for their husbands to provide everything.
