NATIONAL Federation of Zimbabwe Body-building and Fitness president, Kenneth Murungweni, has hailed Ryan Gumbo and Blessing Sithole who won gold medals at the Arnold Classic Competition.
The duo triumphed at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg on Sunday.
Gumbo and Sithole were on the podium after they won the Muscular Physique 179cm Division and Men’s Physique Divisions.
The competition was launched in 2016 as a multi-sport festival that features body-building, strongman, weightlifting and a large fitness expo. “We are very happy that this is the first time we have had male athletes winning Men’s Physique and Muscular Physique title at an international-rated contest.
“Sithole and Gumbo were making their maiden appearance at an international-rated event. “We are coming from a challenging situation, after the national lockdown, and going to South Africa, and coming out with medals shows the guys put in a lot of work,’’ said Murungweni.
Sithole and Gumbo qualified for the Arnolds in 2019. “We are now looking forward to the Manicaland Classic, which is set for this weekend in Mutare, and the Harare Classic, on December 4. The Arnolds Classic are the brainchild of former actor and governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who holds six events, throughout the world.
