A FEARSOME five-man gang from Bulawayo turned Woodville Park into a no-go-zone , storming homes and terrorising residents in a robbery spree that saw them make off with goods and cash worth nearly US$15,000.

The suspects, Lewis Mbeli (28), Tyson Taylor Moyo (29), Zibusiso Ndlovu (28), Zibusiso Manungwa (27) and Nqobile Nxumalo (29), were hauled before Bulawayo Magistrate Shingirai Mutiro and remanded in custody until August 8.

Prosecutor Dominic Moyo told the court the gang faces five counts of robbery, all committed on a single chaotic day on November 27, 2024.

The horror began when the gang pounced on Caroline Bongi Richards, sneaking in through her kitchen door. Armed with pistols, they threatened her and fled with two wristwatches, a Samsung phone and a Motorola phone with a USA SIM card.

Later that day the robbers struck again, this time targeting Vincent Nathan Richards. They used the same route, the kitchen, to gain entry and threatened him with weapons. They made off with US$2,700 cash, an XPS 13 laptop, a maroon Samson suitcase, and a Samsung Galaxy S22 with another USA SIM.

The rampage was far from over.

Their third victim, Vivia Moyo, was confronted by the gang wielding pistols, an axe and a pick handle. She was robbed of a Samsung A05, a KDX phone, and her peace of mind.

The fourth robbery saw Elson Antonio fall victim. The armed crew stormed in through the kitchen and fled with his Samsung A03.

For their final act, they confronted Pretty Sibanda, threatening her with pistols before snatching her Samsung cellphone.

Police say the gang’s operations were carefully timed, brutal and left residents shaken.

The court heard that none of the stolen property has been recovered.
