A MARANGE businessman and his family lost money and property worth US$3 000 after gun-toting robbers raided their family home in Chipfatsura Village on Saturday night.
When The Manica Post visited the homestead this afternoon, Mr Shepherd Matongo’s wife, Charity Matongo said they were left nursing serious injuries after the seven-member gang assaulted them while demanding US$10 000 they alleged was hidden in the house.
“We did not have the said US$10 000, and only handed them the amount which we had in the house, but they assaulted us regardless, demanding that we tell them where the money was,” she said.
Acting Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka was not readily available for a comment, as his phone went unanswered.
