Gunners after Chicharito

LONDON. — Arsenal are plotting a shock move for former Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez. The Gunners have been impressed by the in-form Mexican, who has been scoring for fun since joining Bayern Leverkusen after being booted out of Old Trafford by Louis van Gaal. Striker Hernandez (27) has smashed 19 goals in 21 games since his £7million move to the German Bundesliga last summer.

Sources close to the player — nicknamed Chicharito or Little Pea — suggest that he would like another crack at the Premier League and this has alerted Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal, who are seeking cover for France forward Olivier Giroud.

Hernandez spent last season on loan at Spanish giants Real Madrid but was told by Dutchman Van Gaal on his return that he had “only one per cent chance” of playing for him, which forced the forward to move to Germany. — The Daily Star.
