NOMADIC former Dynamos striker Evans Gwekwerere is back at his former Mozambican First Division League side Texta Africa on a two-year loan. Gwekwerere rejoined the club during the transfer window period and has featured in the club’s three matches so far. He has scored six goals. It was at the same club where he won the Golden Boot award last year after joining mid-season and played only nine matches. He banged 15 goals.
“I am more than happy to be back at Texta Africa. I still have those sweet memories of winning the Golden Boot here.

“I came here after my club Clube Ferroviario de Maputo gave me the nod to feature for Texta. My team is eyeing promotion into Macombola, the country’s top flight league,” he said.

Texta Africa last year missed promotion by a whisker after play offs. Currently the club is topping the log with 41 points with only three rounds of league matches to go before the end of First Division League season.

The club is also in the quarter finals of the Taca Cup.
Gwekwerere has turned out for a host of teams such as Moroka Swallows, Jomo Cosmos of South Africa and locally the controversial striker has featured for Douglas Warriors, Dynamos and Caps United where he was expelled for disciplinary reasons three years ago.

He then crossed the borders to neighbouring country Botswana where he had a short stint with Township Rollers FC. He returned home to join police side Black Mambas where he failed to command a regular jersey. He then decided to cast his nets wide on the local scene by trying his luck in Mutare at struggling army side Buffaloes.
At Buffaloes FC he signed a one-year contract and went AWOL before he even featured in a single match.

He resurfaced in Mozambique where he had joined Texta Africa and dumped the club after it failed to gain promotion and early this year before he signed a two-year deal with the Maputo-based Macombola side Clube Ferroviario de Maputo.
Clube Ferroviario then loaned him back to Texta Africa.

Asked if he is willing to go back to Clube Ferroviario after the loan spell, Gwekwerere said: “It all depends.
“If Texta gains promotion I will stay here since I am happy here. At Clube Ferroviario I was not happy with one or two things that I cannot say out,” he said.
