Gweru holds first Mayor’s Charity Funfair

GWERU will come alive this weekend as 30 artistes will converge on Mkoba Stadium for the first ever Mayor’s Charity Funfair.

The two-day event, which kicks off tomorrow, will among others, feature performances by award-winning DJ Tamuka, Seh Calaz, Legion and Nasty Tricks.

The event, a brainchild of Gweru Mayor Councillor Charles Chikozho, will see proceeds being channelled to charity when the Gweru City Council donates to old people and children’s homes.

One of the organisers of the event, Willie Mponda, said all was set.

“All is set for the first ever Mayor’s Funfair. We’re promising a weekend of fun and residents are encouraged to come out in their numbers to support this noble cause.

“The event caters for all age groups,” Mponda said.

He thanked the artistes drawn from Mberengwa, Zvishavane, Kwekwe, Gweru and Harare for supporting the cause saying they had offered their services for free.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the Municipal Police have been tasked to provide security.
