Pardon Home was convicted of culpable homicide after a dispute over beer escalated into violence.

The High Court in Gweru sentenced Home to eight years in prison, with three years suspended for five years on the condition of good behaviour.

The incident occurred on March 9, 2022, at Safari Night Club in the Four Miles Business Centre.  According to court reports, Home was enjoying a drink when another patron grabbed one of the six beers he had purchased, leading to a physical confrontation.

Witnesses indicated that the scuffle moved outside, where Home produced a sharp object and stabbed the victim in the head and arms.

Following the attack, Home fled the scene, while the injured patron was rushed to the hospital. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries the following day, on March 10.

Authorities conducted an investigation that ultimately resulted in Home’s arrest. The court’s ruling serves as a reminder of the severe consequences of violence, particularly in social settings. (Byo24)
