RESIDENTS in Gweru, government departments and corporate organisations, including NetOne, yesterday joined the National Clean-Up Campaign, conducting litter collection and environmental cleaning activities in various suburbs and the Central Business District.

At the Government Complex, departments such as the Registry Department and the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services participated in cleaning activities within and around the premises.

At the Gweru Magistrates’ Court, magistrates, prosecutors and support staff were also involved in cleaning the court precincts as part of the monthly initiative.

In Senga suburb, NetOne and its partners undertook a clean-up exercise stretching from Senga Shopping Centre to Senga Vocational Training Centre, collecting litter and promoting environmental cleanliness.

National Clean-Up Day is observed on the first Friday of every month across the country.

Launched by President Mnangagwa in 2018, the initiative calls on citizens, businesses and organisations to dedicate time to cleaning their surroundings in order to promote safe, healthy and sustainable environments.
