Gweru City Council Mayor, Councillor Martin Chivhoko, has urged residents to actively participate in shaping the city’s policies, particularly during the upcoming budget making process so that they have a say in how they want the city run.
Speaking during the recent 717th Ordinary Council Meeting, Clr Chivhoko highlighted notable improvements in health services, water supply, and infrastructure upgrades, but emphasized that the success of these initiatives hinges on collective ownership by the residents and ratepayers.
“I encourage residents to attend budget consultation meetings, describing them as crucial for transparent financial management. By engaging with the council, residents can ensure that their voices are heard and their needs are addressed,” he said.
Clr Chivhoko reiterated that for the city to thrive residents and ratepayers should not allow a culture where the local authority works in isolation.
“Every household should have a voice in how resources are allocated,” he said.
