Gyptian names his all-time five reggae love songs

Gyptian is one of the newer generations of reggae love songs classified under lovers rock. Lovers rock is the reggae version of R&B music. Since the 1970s and 80s, a slew of reggae artistes have catapulted the popularity of lovers rock including Beres Hammond, Gregory Isaacs, Ken Boothe, Sanchez and others. Gyptian was among a handful of artistes who revived roots reggae and lovers rock at the turn of the new millennium. But if you asked him where he gets his inspirations from he would take you back to the 1980s.
Speaking with The Fader, Gyptian named his all-time favourite five reggae love songs.

1. Beres Hammond, “She Loves Me Now” (1986)
2. Sugar Minott, “Herbman Hustling” (1984)
3. Sanchez, “If I Ever Fall In Love” (1993)
4. Ken Boothe, “Everything I Own” (1974)
5. Gregory Isaacs, “Night Nurse” (1982) – Urban Islandz.
