WARRIORS defender Teenage Hadebe has confirmed that a hamstring injury has forced him out of the Unity Cup in London later this month.
The Warriors are set to play Nigeria in the semi-finals of the four-team tournament.
The other semi-final will feature Jamaica and India. He suffered the injury three weeks ago while featuring for his Major League side, FC Cincinnati.
“Given a chance, it’s every player’s dream to be part of the national team at any given time.
“I am a player who enjoys fighting with others on the pitch. But, with the current circumstances, I have to fully support the boys from the sidelines. I wish them good luck in London. Go and make Zimbabwe proud.” Hadebe’s absence is a blow to the Warriors’ defensive line for the tournament.
Marshall Munetsi has been drafted back into the team. “We have an exciting crop of players, both seniors and emerging youngsters,” said Hadebe.
“There is a lot of balance in the team which I believe is capable of competing with anyone at any stage.” The four nations tournament is set from May 26 to 30.
