Hadebe in first American victory

ZIMBABWE international Teenage Hadebe’s 10-match winless streak since he moved to the US in July ended yesterday when he celebrated his first victory with Houston Dynamo after beating Austin 3-0.

Dynamo’s victory ended a 16-game winless streak in which Hadebe was involved in 10, losing four times and drawing six.

The 25-year-old Warriors’ defender, who was snapped up from Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor on a three-year deal, has completed every game he has played in since his debut, in a goalless draw against Vancouver Whitecaps at the beginning of July.

Hadebe’s side is eight points behind seventh-placed Real Salt Lake City, who have two games in hand.

The team that finishes top of the Western Conference will get automatic passage to the final series, with teams that finish in the top seven going for the play-offs.

Meanwhile, Warriors’ midfielder Marvelous Nakamba was a 79th minute replacement for Brazilian Douglas Luiz in Aston Villa’s 3-0 drubbing by Chelsea in an English Premiership match played on Saturday.

In South Africa, Warriors’ fringe central midfielder Blessing Sarupinda made his debut appearance for Sekhukhune

United, coming from the bench in the 40th minute for Thabo Rakhale in a 1-1 draw with Stellenbosch on Saturday.

Winger Talent Chawapiwa played the last eight minutes of that encounter, as he made his first appearance for Sekhukhune since moving from Durban side AmaZulu.

Former national team goalkeeper Tapuwa Kapini kept Sekhukhune’s goal, while Willard Katsande was an unused substitute.

National team forward Terrence Dzukamanja tasted action, coming on in the 59th minute in Orlando Pirates’ 1-0 win over Swallows in the original Soweto derby. — @ZililoR
