A hailstorm has left a trail of destruction after it descended heavily on Goromonzi blowing off several rooftops and destroying property worth thousands of dollars.

Also destroyed is farm produce that includes ten hectares of maize, tomatoes, and cabbages belonging to farmers under the Chinyika Irrigation Scheme. The storm left window panes and glass doors on several houses shattered.

One of the farmers Mr Peter Marovhu of Tafirenyika village was left counting his losses after the storm destroyed his solar irrigation equipment and various farm produce.

The Department of Civil Protection has of late been advising the nation to be on high alert and be cautious as most parts of the country will receive heavy rains, sometimes with violent storms.
