THE International Handball Federation D licence coaching course entered day two on Tuesday with 25 participants in attendance at Queen Elizabeth School, in Harare.
The course being hosted by the Zimbabwe Handball Federation has attracted four participants from Lesotho and the rest are local coaches drawn from schools, tertiary institutions and clubs.
The course is running until Friday and being facilitated by IHF Commission of Coaching and Methods lecturer Anaclet Bagirishya from Rwanda.
“It is in line with the new IHF coaching education system that has been introduced recently, in 2023,” said Bagirishya.
“Before the coaches they used to have different levels but the IHF wanted to harmonise all those coaching licences that people have got in the previous years.
“Mainly this course is all about giving the basic skills for the coaches, what are they supposed to be at the basic level.
“But we are also giving some skills about handball in terms of attacking, defending.
“Then we are also giving them the qualities, what are the physical qualities that are required for a handball player to be able to play handball.”
Bagirishya is being assisted by ZHF vice president Clemence Tauro.
