THE Zimbabwe National Liberation War Collaborators Association says the United States should stop interfering and lecturing other countries on human rights abuse.
Spokesperson Cde Felex Machando said they registered their dismay at the interference of America in other independent countries’ internal affairs.
“The US should not interfere in Zimbabwe’s internal politics by sponsoring its agents in the form of opposition parties to spearhead regime change in the country,” said Cde Machando.
He the US should be the last country to lecture other countries on human rights abuse because of the atrocities it perpetrates in countries such as Iraq, Iran, Libya, Palestine and Cuba.
“Zimbabwe is a peaceful country and fought a protracted liberation struggle to gain its independence,” said Cde Machando. “The USA fought for its independence from the very same country that colonised us.”
If the US, he said, was committed to upholding the values of self-determination and democracy worldwide, it should not arm-twist other emerging countries for its own selfish imperial gains.
“Rather, if the US is well-meaning, it should actually be helping Zimbabwe to cope with post-colonial challenges the country is facing,” said Cde Machando, adding:
“The challenges being faced by Zimbabwe today are to a greater extent the result of the brutal excess of the West on Africa. That included over 300 years of slavery and hundred years of colonialism.”
