HARARE Amateur Swimming have begun preparations for their Senior Championships to take place between the end of this month and early December at Les Brown Swimming Pool.

The championships run over two consecutive weekends and they are scheduled for the weekend of November 26 to 28 and December 3 to 5.

All the six clubs from the province – Spartans, Highlands, Dorados, Sharks, Otters and Pirates are expected to take part in the provincial meet that will see swimmers competing in different events on offer.

The province has had a number of competitions since the swimming season got underway in September.

HAS board member Nikki Johnsen said preparations are on course and believes their swimmers are ready having already competed in other competitions.

“All preparations are going well. All swimmers are preparing well and are ready. The clubs competing are Spartans, Highlands, Dorados, Sharks, Otters and Pirates.

“There have been five seeded galas and one short course in preparation. They were all very crucial and have shown the swimmers what they need to work on,” said Johnsen.

Johnsen said based on the progress the swimmers have been making since the season began they are looking forward to an interesting competition.
