Harare based comedian set to perform in Bulawayo

A HARARE based female comedian Tanyaradzwa Alexandrah Sena popularly known as Tanya Alex is set to perform today at the Burg Comedy Night in Bulawayo.

Tanya Alex is the founder of Peaces Piece Entertainment, a company that organises monthly shows at theatres and restaurants in Harare which gives different comedians a platform to showcase their craft.

She performed at the Shoko Festival last week and has performed in a number of countries in Southern Africa. Tanya Alex said she was happy with the opportunity to perform at the Burg Comedy Night.

“I am excited to perform in Bulawayo. It is my third time performing in the city. I love Bulawayo and the audience is always fun,” she said.

Tanya Alex indicated that she faced a number of obstacles in chasing her dreams.

“I started comedy in 2019 and there are a number of obstacles that l had to face in chasing my dreams. The main obstacle was my culture, the belief that women cannot be out at night. I had to fight a lot with my family until l had to move out,” she said.

She is running the weekly comedy Thursdays in Harare.

“There are a number of projects that I am working on and these include running the weekly Comedy Thursdays at the Theatre in The Park,” she said.
