Harare begins water pipe replacement in Avondale

The City of Harare, in partnership with Helcraw Water Private Limited, commenced the replacement of water pipes in Avondale today.

In an interview, the City of Harare spokesperson, Mr Stanley Gama said Avondale, one of the oldest suburbs in Harare, has several burst pipes that need replacement.

“We started with Warren Park and Westlea. We are now replacing pipes in Avondale due to the frequent bursts. Avondale is one of the oldest suburbs in the capital.

“The pipes are worn out, and we have to replace them,” he said.

In a statement, the City of Harare indicated that the area will experience disruptions in water supply as a result of the work being done.

“Motorists are encouraged to manoeuvre carefully as there will be some partial road closures. Residents are encouraged to cooperate with the contractors,” the statement reads.
