The City of Harare, in partnership with Helcraw Water, is set to commence major water pipe replacement works in Borrowdale and Hillside as part of ongoing efforts to replace ageing infrastructure and improve water service delivery across the capital.
According to a notice issued by acting town clerk Advocate Warren Chiwawa, replacement works will begin on Wednesday along Weaver Chess Close and St Michael Lane in Borrowdale and are scheduled for completion by June 26, 2026.
The project forms part of broader infrastructure rehabilitation programmes aimed at enhancing the reliability and efficiency of the city’s water distribution network.
“Residents are advised that there may be temporary water and electricity disruptions during the course of the works,” said Adv Chiwawa.
“Motorists and residents are encouraged to exercise caution around the work areas and cooperate with personnel on site.”
In a separate notice, Adv Chiwawa announced that additional pipe replacement works will commence next Monday between Brooks Drive and Chiremba Road in Hillside.
The Hillside project is expected to run until June 30, 2026.
“Residents are advised that there may be temporary water and electricity disruptions during the course of the works,” read the notice.
“Motorists and residents are encouraged to exercise caution around the work areas and cooperate with personnel on site.”
The City of Harare and Helcraw Water have been implementing a series of infrastructure upgrades across the city as part of efforts to reduce water losses, improve service delivery and strengthen the reliability of critical utility networks.
