FOR the second year running Harare City find themselves in the final of the Chibuku Super Cup following a superb second half display as they dismissed ZPC Kariba in an entertaining semi-final encounter at Mandava Stadium yesterday.
Returning to the same venue where they felt cheated in the final they lost on penalties to FC Platinum, Harare City placed that disappointment behind them as they blazed past their opponents. The result means City have now found the target nine times in two matches following their 5-0 routing of Triangle in the quarter-finals.
A brace by towering forward Francisco Zekumbawira, one in each half, an own goal by George Magariro and a single strike by Agrippa Murimba ensured Taurai Mangwiro’s boys of a place in the sun. Seasoned defender Thomas Sweswe had given ZPC Kariba the lead in the first half. Harare City will now meet the winner of the second last-four clash between Chapungu and Dynamos set for the same venue this afternoon. ZPC Kariba looked like they were going to come out tops when Sweswe headed in unchallenged inside the box from a Raphael Manuvire corner kick with four minutes played.
