This follows a petition by 1 250 residents who objected to his developments in the area.
But Mr Chiyangwa last Wednesday said he had been waiting to see the city’s proposal saying if it made business sense, he would accept it.
Councillor Peter Mudavanhu pushed for the ouster of Mr Chiyangwa from the piece of land saying any further delays by council to evict him would cost him votes in the event of an election.
He said it was sad that the Ballantyne Park land was exchanged with Mr Chiyangwa with money for salaries after the city had failed to pay its workers.
“Let us withdraw his title deeds and give him land elsewhere,” he said. Several other councillors said they had visited the park and had met residents objecting to the development.
Clr Panganayi Charumbira questioned why the majority of land issues in Harare revolved around Mr Chiyangwa in a city of more than two million other people.
Clr Friday Muleya said council should not waste time by keeping Mr Chiyangwa in the park for a day longer while Clr Herbert Gomba said council policy to preserve wetlands should be upheld.
“We want him out of the park. Give him land elsewhere,” he said.
But Mr Chiyangwa sounded very conciliatory saying he had no emotional attachment to the land in the park and was ready for a swap if the “proposal makes business sense.”
“I am waiting for their proposal. I have no obsession or emotional attachment to any land,” he said. Councillors were agreed that Mr Chiyangwa owns the land but were simply not happy with developments in the park.
Mr Chiyangwa also confirmed that the land was in his name and that he had improved it.
“It was a sex park before I took over. It is now a decent place to go to,” he said.
Mr Chiyangwa has fenced the park and is in the process of greening it, drilling a borehole and installing a generator.
